Our clients include nonprofits, businesses, organizations, foundations, policy professionals and lawmakers. We work nationwide and internationally, while also taking pride in helping our community here in the Pacific Northwest.

Renata teamed up with SmartMeme Studios in 2012 out of a desire to lend her copywriting, proofreading, fact-checking, and research skills toward a more kind and conscious culture.
She earned a liberal arts degree with emphasis in communications and organizational leadership from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where she served as managing editor and editor-in-chief of the student-run newspaper, Cooper Point Journal.
After graduation, Renata wrote for several newspapers in the Pacific Northwest and the Bay Area, before transitioning into media monitoring at Cision, a global public relations firm. At Cision, Renata managed a team who produced daily media reports for over 400 US-based clients, tracking broadcast coverage of corporate brands, non-profit organizations and government agencies.
Additionally, Renata has organized field operations for statewide electoral campaigns in Washington and California, and participated in social movements including Occupy Wall Street and Idle No More, thereby receiving an eye-opening education in how strategic campaign storytelling affects on-the-ground reality.
She combines her writing, media and campaign skills with her compassion for people and the planet. Renata was elected to Olympia City Council in 2017. When not working, she can usually be found on her yoga mat.
Devorah joined SmartMeme Studios in 2012 and brings aboard her experience in public relations, social media, screenwriting, and video production. She was educated in comparative classics and philosophy with an emphasis in art history and symbolism at Gutenberg College in Eugene, Oregon.
In 2008, she enlisted in the US Marine Corps and graduated from DINFOS (Defense Information School) Fort Meade, MA with an occupational specialty in video production and documentation in 2009. During her enlistment, she specialized in campaign construction, otherwise known as media propaganda, with an emphasis in strategic media persuasion, image control, and adverse audiences. She also managed various projects that dealt with a range of issues from military suicide statistics to in-school recruitment.
After leaving the military, Devorah returned to the Northwest and became a media consultant for Coffee Strong, a pro-soldier, anti-war GI coffee house outside US Army installation Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) in Washington State. She has been invited to speak about her military experience by a variety of organizations such as CBS, KOMO News, Pulse TV (Maverick Media Productions), The Northwest Soldier’s Project, Iraq Veterans Against the War and has campaigned alongside numerous non-profits including The Society of Friends, VETWOW and Pack-Parachute.
She brings her knowledge of government media techniques to SmartMeme Studios as well as her passion for social justice and change. When she’s not media consulting, she can be found working on a collection of essays and short stories.
